Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Millie update - Samantha Australia

Dear All,

I just wanted to give everyone an update on Millie, who was diagnosed with IMHA on 22nd January.

We had a check up today - PCV at 33! I'm happy today, because she has been stable at 27 for over two weeks following her transfusion and diagnosis.

She is a lot more like herself, though tiring very easy and sleeping a lot!

She seems to be retaining fluid in her lungs and abdomen. The vet gave her a shot of Frusamide on Friday to help, but now it's building up again...
Waiting to see if it resolves as the Vetmedin for her heart problem kicks in and the anaemia continues to resolve.

I'm still cautious as I know a relapse is possible at any time, but very encouraged by the positive result today.

Thanks for your support, wouldn't have got this far without everyone!

For all those still fighting - keep going!

Samantha,
The fluid build up does seem to be a part of this for some dogs. Hopefully it can be resolved quickly.

Samantha, what a great number for Millie. It's also a good sign that she is slowly starting to seem more like herself again. Really happy for you.
