Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Millie is a one year survivor today

Hi Everyone
Today is Millie's one year anniversary of her IMHA diagnosis.
She is going great and only taking a quarter of an Imuran tablet every third day.
Thanks to everyone here for your advice and support. If I had not found this forum, Millie may not have made it this far.

Thank you all

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your Congratulations - I feel like it's a major milestone, and I can't believe she's still here with us after everything I was going through this time last year....
I must say I've noticed her slowing down a bit, it's either old age creeping in or the hot summer we've been having.... (I'm hoping it's the heat that's the problem)!

Johnny - we are having a BBQ this weekend (as Aussies love to do in summer) - not that much fun for me as I'm vegetarian, but my husband and our other 2 dogs love a treat of BBQ hamburgers and sausages. Millie is a hamburger fiend, so she'll have a break from her healthy diet and have a couple of hamburgers!

Dear Silka,

Thanks for your message.

No problem at all - that's what we are all here for to support each other. I appreciate the support and encouragement you have given to me also since you joined us here.

I think about you and Riley every day, and I hope the pain is easing for you, though I know it never truly goes away.

I hope Bonnie and your girls are going OK.

Hi Samantha, here is one for you, thought you might enjoy it, though its not a maltese x, its a havanese.

Cut and paste if the link doesnt work, its cute.

I do miss my Riley, thank you for your thoughts.

I know how stressful it is to totally reduce the medication.. I was checking Madison's gums every moment i could when we stopped all medication.. I still check them every few days - i think its just a habit now :o)

Hi Silka,

I loved that clip of the little Havanese - he was gorgeous! I had some fun with my other dog Harry (Jack Russell X Maltese Shihtzu) - trying to teach him to spin too! I think we are getting somewhere!

Amid the celebrations on Friday, I forgot for the first time ever to give Millie her medication. I realised on Saturday night we'd missed the dose of Imuran - 24 hours later!!
Lucky these are only maintenance doses....
