Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Millie - 2 year survivor

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share our good news that Millie is a 2 year IMHA survivor!
I cannot believe it was that long ago that I was battling this disease with her.

Despite being 13 years old, she is in exceptionally good health! We are treating her congestive heart disease with Vetmedin, which I think helps a lot with the energy levels and her ability to play and exercise.

She is showing no signs of slowing down, no arthritis or mobility problems.

I am so thankful for these two years with Millie, and hopefully for another few years to come!

HEY....I thought you already posted this???? Just kiddin! hehe
That's awesome that Millie hit this milestone! Tessy's almost there also (Feb) and it seems like just yesterday we were all struggling with this dang disease.
Millie is incredibly lucky to have you in her corner.
AND FOR THOSE WHO DIDN'T NOTICE........Millie is THIRTEEN years old!!!!!!!!! I'm saying this cause sometimes we hear people saying that they don't know if it's worth fighting cause the dog is getting older! Well, Millie is a prime example of an older dog that's now healthy and got many many more happy healthy years ahead of her!
Cyber pats to the back for you Samantha for all the hard work you did with Millie.
Big ole cyber smooches for you Millie! I wonder if your mom will give you something special to celebrate????

Hugs,
Johnny & Tessy

I just had my Lab Mix "Kylle" diagnosed at 12:30 this morning with IMHA. She is having a blood transfusion at this time. If there are any questions you know that I need to ask the Vet that will help this diagnosis to be a happy ending PLEASE LET ME KNOW. My Kylle is 9 years old and an absolute sweetheart. I pray God let's me keep her for a few more years. Any help will be appreciated.

Way to go Millie! I hope a lot of the new people on board read Millie's success story and see just how a dog that was given such dire predictions at the onset fooled everyone, (thanks to her very caring family and doggy determination.) I can't believe it is 2 years already. It seems like just yesterday when i was trying to keep track of 2 Samantha's from Australia with dogs whose names both started with M's. LOL! I am so happy both turned out to be winners against this awful disease.

Thanks for your congratulations everyone!

Johnny - yes, Millie certainly did get spoiled. Roast chicken for dinner! She's always spoiled though!
Senior dogs certainly do deserve a chance to beat this disease - because they can beat it. There are other older dogs here like Sheba and Ren who have also beaten IMHA.

Penny - yes it was confusing for a while with the 2 Samantha's from Australia!

Joanne - Thanks for your support and for letting me share Millie's story on Meisha's Hope. Millie definitely got your hug plus several more!

Our thoughts are with everyone currently battling this disease.

Hi Sam & Millie,
Great thanks for sharing your story as it gives hope to others who have either just beaten or are struggling with the rollercoaster of this illness. Well done to both of you, just enjoy life.
