Merry Christmas to all the special people and pets i have come across on here. I wish you all a great day and wish the best of health for all your great dogs. It's crazy that something so horrible like this disease can band us together and create new friends, sharing new information and in essence helping one another in the process. im so thankful i found this board, and more thankful than anything that Sway is still here with me for our 6th Christmas. best wishes to all, Josh/Sway

I have come to think of everyone on this board as family. Although it is not likely any of us will ever meet we have all faced a terrible challenge and with the strength of many have managed to get through things we could not have done alone. I am so happy that you and Sway have had another Christmas and hope for a bright New Years for you both. Penny

This forum has been a Godsend to me and Jacob for 5 1/2 years now. I have met so many wonderful, helpful people on this site that know first hand the heart wrenching experience of finding out our beloved pets have been stricken by such a hideous disease. I still go through so many emotions every time I log on to see all the new cases and those that have lost the battle. It never gets easier. Jacob's illness has been harder on me than even some of the "human" losses I have experienced in the pass 5 years. Dogs are so gentle, loving, etc etc that it is so hard to grasp how on earth they can be stricken with something like this. Then you go through all the questions like are you doing the right thing by your dog, was it something you did, and so on....On the other hand, I truly believe that God presents us with challenges in life and everything is for a reason. Because of this disease, me and Jacob are as close as close can get. He gets more walks, he doesnt get yelled at if he leaves a little present on his rearend and sits down on the couch and leaves me a "mark" to clean up, and it has certainly taught me not to sweat the small stuff...live and enjoy every day. Each and every dog that its owner share their story on this forum has a piece of my heart. I always say a little prayer that they have the strength to fight the good fight. On a final note, Joanne is our angel. She has helped so many with her time, dedication, and her sweet beloved Meisha's story. Along side Joanne are countless others that have lent their ear and heart to so many of us and for that I am eternally grateful. I hope everyone had a Wonderful Christmas! Teresa and Jacob
