Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Matilda's good report!

Matilda was diagnosed March 17 of this year. We started reducing her prednisone from 10mg/day to 5 mg/ day about 1 month ago. We are now going to reduce again to 5mg every other day. We check her blood every week, and it has slowly be increasing, and finally has held at 50 for the past 3 weeks! She is still on 25mg Cyclosporine (Atopica) 2xday, azathioprine every other day and omeprazole every day, and now will be on clavamox 2xday for a month as she is still battling the Proteus Urinary Tract Infection, and on a special diet due to crystals in her urine. But through it all, she is really feeling well and has that spark back in her eye, and that bounce back in her walk.

Thanks to all of you for your information, advise, and comaraderie throughout this experience. I'm happy, yet still cautious as I know that Matilda's health can turn on a dime - so we will just enjoy every moment we have for right now. Thank you all - and we will keep each of you in our thoughts and prayers

ps - now we need a Boogie update - so they can continue high-fiving!
