Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Maddison didn't make it

After an encouraging check up Thursday, Maddisons pcv was up to 35 and her protein was holding at 5, and she was finally eating, Maddison passed away peacefully early Friday morning. She had continued to lose weight and was down to 40 pounds. We think her body just gave out. Needless to say this was unexpected because of her blood results and has been a very emotional weekend. I appreciate all of the support I have received through this site and will keep you in my thoughts. Keep fighting! Love Kathy & Maddison

Kathy,

Having just lost my love not a week ago my heart is with you. I'm so sorry for your loss. I've begun channeling my grief into raising awareness, these forums and that are getting me through.

Hang in and know that our thoughts are with you!

Kathy,

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Maddison. The loss of our furry friends is very difficult. They provide such unconditional love and regard.

My heart is still heavy from the loss of my Molson about 2 weeks ago. I, like Sherri am trying to channel it into raising awareness. Although I found this site a day before I had to put Molson down - it has been a great place of healing. People don't understand the difficulty of IMHA.

Know of my thoughts and prayers.

Kathy,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Maddison. With this disease as I guess with any, I think their bodies just tell them when it is time to shut down and when it is time to let go. She will always remember the love you gave her and how hard you fought along with her to try and beat this horrible disease. But for now, just one day at a time.

Our thoughts are with you.

Oh no - not another loved dog/family member. I am so sorry and so sad for you and your family and Maddison. I lost Jennie five weeks ago and I can totally understand your sorrow. Please accept my sincere sympathy. Gail

PS I was told on Wednesday (of the week Jenn died) that she was in remission (she was at 38) and then she died very early Sunday morning. I can't look at pictures of her yet without sobbing.

I am so sad for you and Maddison.

Kathy,
That has to be so hard when you think you are making progress and then your ultimate fear becomes a reality.
It was the same with my dog. I am so sorry for your loss.

Kathy,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know exactly what you are going through as my little one Daisy passed away peacefully at home on Friday evening. Take comfort in that Maddison passed on peacefully and that you did not have to make that dreaded decision that some have to make. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Please feel free to email me if you need to chat.

Kathy,
I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful baby Maddison! You have been fighting the good fight and sometimes our most valiant efforts are not rewarded. We just lost our baby Panzer March 15th, her numbers were up too and we thought she was going to be the two time champ. It was not to be. Maddison's will live in your heart forever, take comfort knowing you did everything you could for her and she passed knowing all the love you have for her.

Thank you all for your thoughts and sympathy. It has been a hard week and I know that it will take quite some time to adjust. I also extend my sympathy to all of oyu that are also dealing with loosing your best friends. This is a very heartbreaking disease and you all are in our thoughts as well. Thank you!
