To everyone who is currently fighting this disease or has lost one of their beloved babies to it: I read this bulletin almost every day. Even though I lost my beautiful baby girl to this horrid disease 6 weeks ago, I am trying to find the silver lining these days. I'm volunteering at a local shelter, and learning each one of these dogs stories -- some abandoned, some given up because they were too much trouble, others just left tied to a garbage bin for someone to find. And as I continue to read your stories...the worry, advice, support and ultimately incredible love of your dogs, I come to the conclusion that despite this awful disease, these are very lucky dogs...to have each of you as such a concerned, loving owner. So, take a moment, and realize that you've made a difference, that you're making a difference. Know someone here is in awe of your courage, your commitment and the depth of your passion to fight for the ones we love. From all your dogs to you: thank you. Sharon

hi sharon, thanks so much for your post and for checking in. i hope that time is easing your pain of losing raven. I'm happy to hear that you are at a shelter volunteering, my husband and i began volunteering for two animal shelters here in utah when tiggs began stablizing, and we feel so great hanging out with the dogs. The two programs that we volunteer for luckily are 'no kill' and have taken the animals on as a last resort. we love to take these dogs, who were given another chance, out to play, walk, etc. It is so inspiring and uplifting. We are also going to start trying to foster a dog soon- this will be a challenge with Tiggs recovering (we got the ok from the vet as he's doing so well) but also with our older dog who is extremely dog aggressive. We just really want to give yet another dog another chance at finding a forever home (though hopefully not with us :). Maybe in the future you might be ready or willing to try something like that too. It's wonderful to hear from you and thanks so much for your words of encouragement to all of us still fighting and for the work you are doing with animals in need. melissa and tiggs

Sharon, Thank you so much for your post and for being an advocate for lost/abandoned/mistreated animals. I, too, believe that all of the dogs on this forum are lucky to have owners that love and care so much about them. I also know that all of us are fortunate to have our wonderful dogs. They make our lives richer and give us unconditional love. I just can't imagine why anyone would mistreat an animal. It breaks my heart. Karen
