Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Losing Panzer

We put our Panzer to sleep this morning. I know I have only posted once on this board, but we just found it. We have been fighting AIHA with Panzer for 8 Months. We got her in Remission once, but she was having a relapse. This week has been terrible for her, she was stumbling and falling in the house, falling over outside, she had no balance. It was even hard for her to stand still. You could see her trying to correct herself. She had a grand mal seizure this morning and we knew it was time. It was the most terrifying thing I have ever witnessed. I hate it that we lost our Panzer to this devastating disease. We are going to miss her terribly, she was our baby. We don't have any children. Just our pets. I wish you all the luck in the world with your battle to fight this disease and will be forever grateful for the information that Meisha's Hope gave me to help Panzer..

My heart goes out goes out to you. I lost my last dog, Mai Ling to grand mal seizure and it was devastating as it was totally unexpected. I know have two 4-legged children (like you I have no children so my dogs are my children in every way) Rudy is a diabetic and Daisy is IMHA. Know that you did everything you could for Panzer and that she is now in a better place, no more fighting this horrible disease. If you need to chat please feel free to email me as I know what it is like to lose your baby.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

April,
Our thoughts are with you during this most difficult time of loosing Panzer. I think we all ask this question will our babies ever be well again, it seems to just go on and on. Our Holly is 12 months into it and still fighting. The seizures are really bad, when Holly was first diagnosed, just the weekend before she had about 5 seizures and they are horrible to watch. You did the best you could for her and she know that and yes she is in a better place now, no more suffering to this disease.

Please take care.

April, I'm so sorry to hear about Panzer. We lost our puppy to IMHA 4 days after Christmas; it's a horrible, horrible disease. Right before we had Bronwyn put to sleep she had a seizure as well; she was experiencing neurological distress from excessively high bilirubin levels as a result of the IMHA. It is a horrible thing to watch. My thoughts are with you; I know how you're feeling right now. Feel free to email me if you need to talk to someone.

April,
I'm so sad to hear of another beloved pet - your Panzer - dying from this disease. Even though we don't know each other, we are kindred spirits in our love for our "children." We lost our girl too, two weeks ago, and I may understand the pain you are going through. I'm so sorry - please accept my sympathy.

I am so sorry about Panzer. I lost my beloved Libbie on Monday. I am still in a state of shock. I am just so sorry for us all.

April,

I found this site the day before I had to put my Molson down as a result of liver disease - a complication from IMHA/AIHA. Molson 10/06/96 - 03/25/08

It is really hard. I don't have children either. Molson's generosity and spirit filled the entire house. I am shocked at how empty the house feels now.

Know of my thoughts.
