Holly has done a few poops the last couple of days and they have had a little red/looks to be blood in them. The one day she had a red/blood mucous thing at her back end which we removed. Has anyone ever had any problems with blood in the stool? Linda

Linda, Jasper has had what looks like a little red blood in his poo last week. A little like when you blow your nose and a red streak comes. He went to the vet on Friday and has a 10 day course of anti biotics for a mild infection. As dogs are meat eaters (and Jasper is a scavenger) it is not unusual for them to pass a little blood. As long as its not dark or tarry Holly should be fine, but if you are worried take her to the vet. Jackie

Thanks Jackie, we have been watching her stool very closely and nothing since last week. We have a vet appointment on Nov 12th. LInda

Linda, I haven't noticed any blood in Tipsi's stool, however I have noticed that when she is done pooping there is sometimes a string of white colored mucous hanging from her bottom. I have asked the vet about it and he doesn't seem too concerned, but I was wondering if you or anyone else has had this problem? I don't know if this is somehow related but Tipsi also has continuous eye boogers. Does anyone know if this is a side effect of the medications she is on??

Layla, Holly has done a few poops in the last months that have mucous in them. One was real bad at the vets about a month ago, but I thought just because it was cold and she was nervous, because hates going to the vet anymore. She gets an occasional booger in her eyes. Linda

Mucous on stools seems to be related to atopica in our case. patrice

Okay well hopefully this isn't something I should be too worried about. And Tipsi is on Atopica as well Patrice so maybe that is the culpret!

Lindy had both blood in her stools when she was first diagnosed with AIHA as well as the crusty corners in her eyes after being put on prednisone. Now that she is off of pred, the crusty sleepers are gone. I think it is a somewhat common side effect. The bloody stools came and went when she was first diagnosed. The vet never seemed overly concerned. I hope this helps. Nancy
