Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Latest on Daisy

Daisy had a blood test tonight. Her pcv dropped to 22 (from 26 on Thursday and post transfusion a week ago Sunday)and her ts is 8.2 (which was 8.6 on Thurs. and 8.4 post transfusion). I pray this decline is brief and that her count goes up later this week when she is tested again. She appears fine (pink skin and gums), playing, running and barking.

Evelyn,
This is so scary, isn't it? I am thinking of you and saying prayers for all of you still fighting for your wonderful animals.

Take care, Gail

Evelyn,
Try to look at the good side pink gums running and barking. Sometimes you can get lost in the numbers and paranoia runs rampant during this fight. Hopefully on the next check you will see a big improvement.

What is pvc? We just found out our dog has this and his red blood cell count is a 7. We are in total shock.

Jen,
I am so sorry to hear your dog was diagnosed with this disease. I started a New Thread for you so that you will receive responses from those that are on this Forum. I would advise you to read all you can about this disease so that you can ask informed questions. Treating this disease immediately is very critical! Google - Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia and you will find all sorts of information.
Take care, you will find lots and lots of information on this Forum. The critical issue I was advised very quickly is to find out if your veterinarian is experienced with treating this disease. If not, you must find one that is. This disease is treatable but again, timing is critical.
Again, take care - read the blogs and you'll see the many success stories with this disease. Gail

Just got back from the vet and Daisy's pcv was 22 again. She may not have gone up since Monday but she didn't go down either. On Monday she will have a CBC.
