Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Latest on Clifford...

Good morning!

I am hesitant to share this news because this illness with Cliff has been such a rollercoaster ride, with mostly dips. I just don't want to speak too soon.

Clifford has been holding on to his 3rd transfusion and is steady at PCV 20. The call from the doctor yesterday was all good news! It seems that Cliff's immature red blood cells in the bone marrow are really surging! Cliff had been treated with an immunoglobulin transfusion last week as well as aggressive immunosuppressive therapy. His prednisone had been increased and 2 additional drugs were introduced right before he was released to come home on Saturday. He is now taking Doxycycline and Cyclosporine in addition to the Prednisone, and also takes Amoxicillin, Heparin injections and is still taking the Phenobarbarbital for pre-AIHA seizures.

Cliff picked up a toy this morning and has started following me around the rooms again! His eys sparkle once again and he is smiling. That's why I was trying to post a picture of him yesterday...I am so very proud of my golden boy! Oh yes, and Curt is very happy too. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers. I am also keeping your beloved pets in my prayers as well.

Janice,
I am happy to read that Clifford is showing signs of stabilizing. It must be wonderful to see a glimpse of the "old" Cliff.
