Well, two steps forward (last week) and three steps back (today)....Here are Bentley's results from today: RBC 4.32 (down from 4.74) HGB 9.9 (down from 10.9) HCT 31.4 (down from 34) RDW 16.2 (was 17.2) Platelets 439 (was 600) PCV 29 (down from 32) WBCs 39.2 (up from 22.6) Absol Retic 59.36 (up a bit from 58.9) Advia Retic 1.4 (up from 1.2) RBC Morph: 1+ Anisocytosis, Few Howell Jolly Bodies, 1+ Schistocytes (last time morphology was clear) So our specialist, while not thrilled, was not panicked either....she is just wanting Bentley to at least stabilize. I think she sees him more as a pup that will require longer term treatment, if he survives this initial crisis. She upped his Mycophenalate to 1.2 mL 2x day, and added ultra low dose aspirin. We recheck in a week. Mr. B is still acting great, eating, drinking, playing, even pranced around yesterday. Today, it finally hit home that he may never be IMHA free...I'm just hoping he can survive and live well even with it. Still fighting, Sally

Try not to worry so much about the numbers and go by how Bently is acting and it sounds to me like Bentley is acting just fine. Even if he can't ever be med free he can live a wonderful life, Ginger is not med free and it has been almost four years and they have been great ones. She is still on cylosporine and pred. Give Bently a hug from Ginger and I. Cheryl & Ginger

Sally, like Cheryl said judge by what you are seeing. It is a disease of ups and downs so hold the panic. Just reading the success stories will let you know how well some dogs do even if they have to stay on a low maintenance dose of drugs. Thoughts and prayers for you both. Penny
