Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Kent - Update - Good News
| Hi All, Kent just celebrated his 11th birthday this month, and is doing well. It is over a year and a half since his diagnosis with AIHA, and boy, has it been a ride. His hematocrit remains at about 30, he is on maintenance imuran and pred, lots of supplements, and because of the kidney problems he has developed is also on a home-cooked kidney diet with some premium kibble thrown in. It took us over 6 months to find a dog food good for him that he liked. But it was worth it. I wanted to share this update of good news with you all, and encourage all of you fighting this disease now. They can, and do, get better - Kent is an example of this. | Christine, Great news for you and Kent and Happy Birthday to Kent also! I know what you mean about it being a ride, Holly has been going for 17 months now and still on meds or pred and Imuran also and they say she will most likely be on them the rest of her life.
