Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Keiko update, 1 year anniversary

Hello everyone, Keiko was diagnosed 1 year ago this month with IMHA. We are blessed in that she is still doing well. She has been off prednisone since April and is still taking Imurin EOD. Her last PCV count was 52% and her weight has come back down to 7 pounds. She looks almost thin after the weight she gained from prednisone but this is what she weighed before she got sick. We continue to pray for all the dogs here and still watch Keiko like a hawk. I just cannot relax about her, this disease really knocks us all flat.
I wish all of you continued success in your fight and for those of you that have lost your beloved pets to this God awful disease, I am truly sorry.

Thank you for your post. Warm hugs to you and Keiko. Trooper is 6 months past diagnosis this week, still on Predisone and Imuran...so to hear about a long time to come off these drugs is reassuring. We are walking on eggshells every day too. But, today, a big tail wag and a kiss from my Border Collie on the way outside was the reassurance I needed for today.
Happy anniversary

Jess & Keiko,

Congrats & thanks for the update. It is so encouraging when you are just beginning the battle to hear progress like yours. Matilda was diagnosed early March of this year, and has just started cutting back on the prednisone last week. I am still waiting on the blood results for this past week to see if there is any change with the reduction of pred. You're blazing a trail that we hope to follow!

Jess, wonderful news about Keiko, tell her to keep up the great work and keep on fighting!

We are hoping for Holly's blood work tomorrow to be some good news, she was diagnosed March 2007 and still on prednisone 3mg and Imuran.
