It was results day for us today. Kahlu's blood seems to be fine and I am very happy about that. RBC 6.6 hematocrit 0.48. Everybody that is still in the beginning stages of the disease, it took almost 7 months to get here. So be patient it does not happen over night. Concerning is that Kahlu had to go on Antibiotics yet again for an UTI. I think this is #4. i thought with all the reductions his immune system would have kicked in by now, but it clearly has not. I also put him back on digestive enzymes (Forti Flora) The other concern is his liver enzymes are still high some came down a bit the ALT rose again to 830 (from 665). The pathologist recommended a liver biopsy and ultrasound. My vet figures it is most likely the medication he still has to filter out. He is still on the high quality milk thistle and samE. Since his clinical signs are good, he has so much more energy, I tend to agree with her and we will not do further testing at this point. The vet also felt for his liver and spleen and said they are both not nearly as enlarged as they used to be. We will probably send blood to Dr. Dodds in about a month or so. I am amazed how happy he walks into the vet office after all the prodding. He walzes in there as if he would go to a party. Kahlu's muscles are slowly coming back, he loves to swim! We got our Meisha bandanna today and I will send a picture to Joanne soon so you can see my lovely boy. Best wishes, Brigitte & Kahlu

Well done Kahlu and Brigitte, hope they can get on top of the infections, but I would imagine it will take the immune system time to recover from the hard hitting drugs over a long period of time. Best wishes Kathleen and Nollaig

Good work Kahlu and Brigitte. Tessy is having the same problems with the recurring UTI's. Just can't seem to shake them. Like you I'm hoping she'll get over them once her immune system gets stronger. I had them do xrays and an ultrasound the other day just to make sure there was nothing lurking that might have been causing these. Thankfully they revealed that all was good. You had them take a sample directly from the bladder didn't you? Did the results show an infection? I can't recall reading about it. Anyhow, the good thing is that his blood is looking good and you can continue with the med reductions. High paws to Kahlu fom Tessy. Johnny & Tessy
