Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Joey update and help needed

Hi All,
Joey's latest pcv is 42% and his retyclocytes (wrongly spelt I think) are nearly back to normal levels. He's still a "fat dog" weighs in at 28.7kgs inspite of the exercise and low fat diet (maximum for a Border Collie is 25kgs). Everyday I feel him getting stronger and think myself lucky that this is what is happening. He still has to take 3mgs of Piriton daily for the allergies he developed since this began and has recently commenced Seraquin tablets as he's stiff after a longish walk (? steroid induced arthritis). Joey was first diagnosed on 29/11/08 and was hoping to put his story on Meishas Hope but can't get through due to problems with my computer - still will keep trying.
Love to All,

Corrie,

Congratulations on having nursed Joey back to health! I am sure Joanne can help you with the computer problems. one thing that jumped into my mind when I read your post, have Joey's thyroids ever been checked? Is he still on a low prednisone dose? Not being able to loose weight could be connected to hypothyroidism. Would be worth having it checked out for sure.

Best wishes,
