Just 3yrs ago we got our Border Collie Joey after losing our spaniel to hemolytic anaemia.Last October he developed hemolytic anaemia too and 3mths ago his predinolone was stopped.Since then he's had a monthly pcv test and it's dropped from 48 to 40.About three weeks ago he developed a one sided nasal discharge and has had to have an endoscopy done.Cultures, swabs and biopsies were done and apart from having some inflammation in both nasal passages nothing was found. His hair is falling out in chunks and he has alot of dandruff but isn't scratching excessively.I've also noticed that his bottom lip is loosing it's colour turning from black to pink - it went like this before he was diagnosed in October and he's gaining weight despite being on a diet.Has anyone any ideas?Joey's back to the vet on 7th August for another blood test.

Hi Corrie, How awful to have had to go through this disease with two dogs...I'm happy though that Joey was doing well enough to come off of meds. Have you had his thyroid checked? I would say allergies and thyroid could have some hand in the symptoms you are seeing, maybe ask for the thyroid panel. My dog Tiggs was balooning and had horrible skin and dandruff, and it turns out he was hypothyroid, which a lot of our IMHA kids can develop. After he went on thyroid meds, his skin and energy improved, the weight melted off, and his PCV rose a little too. Hopefully it's an easy fix for Joey, and not a relapse. Please keep us posted, melissa and tiggs

I agree, almost sounds like a thyroid situation. How awful. Let us all know how it goes. I'm sorry and thinking about you. Don't stress.
