Well, since Friday I have been unable to post. It started sporadically and then I could not even start a new thread. Joanne fixed the problem so we are back. Hope none of you were worried that my absence was Toqua related (as in she isn't doing well). Today is 2 months post surgery!! We are now heading into un-chartered ("un-prognosed"). Every time I think she has plateaued she proves me wrong. My yard is fenced with a 3 ft fence (about 80%), and the rest a 5 ft fence where my neighbour's back yard is. In this town they have ridiculous bylaws and way too many of them. The bylaw I am currently fighting is the fence bylaw. It states that a "front yard" fence cannot be higher than 4 ft. Well, my house is set right on the back of my property so ALL my yard is front yard. Toq can jump a 5 ft fence from a stand still, so I thought I would go to the city and see if we could work something out. Was I wrong! 10 page application, 3 month comment period (neighbour comments and council approval!), and over $300 just in application fees - before any approval or installation begins. I thought they would work with me because I am trying to be a responsible dog owner with only a "front yard". Nothing. So, Toqua has stayed tethered. Her tether runs the whole length of the yard, and her rope is long enough so if she does jump the back gate she won't hang herself. Well, back to my point - I thought she had plateaued. We had been discussing whether or not to bother tethering her anymore, as she hasn't tried to jump the fence since she fell ill. I came home at lunch on Friday and who did I find sitting in the driveway waiting for me? Miss Toqua!! Good thing I thought better than to leave her untied!! She and Fin now spend a large part of the day (when we are home) just licking and snuggling. It is so sweet. Fin will go over to Toq and lay right in front of her, and nuzzle her chest. So, she starts licking his face, then Fin licks her - her face, her chest, her legs and feet even - then she licks his ears, loves to clean them but we discourage it, for ear infections and the yucky sound. :) Fin gets so squirmy and wiggly. He lies on his back and it is so funny. I am sure that if dogs could giggle, Fin would be. It is so great to see again. Hope everyone is well. Jessi & Toqua

Awww, that's such a nice story about Fin and Toqua snuggling. :) I'm glad you posted, I'd missed you and wondered if Toqua wasn't doing well! I'm glad to hear she's still doing great. I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe...just maybe...she will prove that vet wrong.

We have the same stupid fence laws as you. We haven't fenced in our 2 lots that will someday be our dogs yard but my husband figured he could get around it by grading a slope away from the fence so they are on lower ground and can't get a jump in up to the fence. I hope that explains it??? Glad to hear things are still going so well for Toqua.
