Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Jasper update....

Hello all,
Jasper has had AIHA since Aug 30th. He has had ups and downs over the last 5 months with the hemolysis returning twice aswell as a couple of bouts of colitis too, but today the vet has called to say his latest bloods show his counts are all in the top range for a perfectly healthy dog. His best results to date as he has for 2 months always been in the bottom to low range.

So we go from 5mg per day to 5mg every other day for the next 2 weeks. As she said its time to start weaning him off with a view to getting him med free over the next couple of months.

Its been a long and sometimes harrowing 5 months, especially with my mum being diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in November. So some good news is long overdue.

Mum has her scan results for her halfway mark tomorrow.... Fingers crossed and a few prayers please!

So for those out there who are struggling keep the hope and faith, please don't give up as there is always hope.

Best wishes,
Jackie and Jasper

Jackie,
Great news on Jasper! Hopefully your Mum's prognosis will be just as great. It must have been so difficult to deal with both. Best wishes and prayers to you all.

Sounds like Jasper is doing well Jackie, that's really good news! Sorry to hear about your mother, thoughts and prayers being sent her way.
I can't wait for Trixie's meds to be reduced. I'm still waiting for the results of her full blood count that was done on Monday.

Thanks for your kind wishes.

At last a good week in the williams household and long overdue good news.

Jasper is fit and well and Mum's results are excellent and show an excellent response to the treatment. Her liver looks near normal on the scan and the lymphoma looks to be gone !! 4 treatments down and only 2 to go! Just have to keep going to the end now and overcome the complete fatigue and side effects with every treatment!
