Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Jasper update....

Jasper has been for his latest bloodtest. He was a little out of sorts for a couple of days last week, and the vet wasn't sure if he may have another bout of colitis on the way. He was really uncoperative this time. He slid across the floor into the consulting room........and when she went to take his temperature he practically sat down just to be awkward!!!!
Anyway, his RBC is still holding at 5.9, so still bottom of the normal range but more importantly no rogue or dodgy cells in there so we have once again stopped the hemolysis. He hasn't really gone above this, so I am starting to wonder if this is his new normal. So the treatment plan is to reduce back down to 5mg twice daily.....or 10mg just in the morning. Does anyone out there have a preference as to what would be the best option based on their experience? Lisa said it didn't really make much difference as the steroid would last the 24 hours anyway? Better on the tum once a day I would imagine.
We did discuss stress. What with mum having Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, the vet agreed that the stress we have all been under could well effect Jasper. Mind you Mum has had a good week this week that is apart from the fact that all her hair has fallen out in one go....just 16 days into treatment!! Next Chemo is this Friday.

Jasper and Mum are both on Pred!!!!!!

Good luck to everyone out there....I do have a scout about every couple of days to check in on all the progress and news.

Jackie,
Sorry you are having to deal with so much at one time.
Hopefully everything will improve on both fronts. You must be exhausted so remember to take care of yourself.
