Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - jasper 1 year anniversary

This is just a quick update. Jasper was diagnosed August 30th last year. We are this week approaching his 1 year anniversary. He is another year older and a little slower. He is 12 1/2 now and although he has the aches and pains that come with old age...... he is doing really well. He has been med free since the middle of March. It breaks my heart to read about those dogs that have passed on, but hope to reassure everyone that there is always hope and that some dogs like Jasper do go on to recover. We still worry when he has off days, when he drinks more than usual, doesn't have much energy or pants more than usual. That's the way it is I guess, and we will always have it there in the background. Good luck to each and everyone who has been touched by this illness and keep up the fight. Jackie and Jasper

Thanks for the great news about Jasper. Wylie who is 11+ (she was a stray so dont know how old she really is) was diagnosed in April and so far (please dont let this jinx me) has been doing great. Whats Jaspers PCV? I have been told that for seniors even holding in the low 30s is good. Laurie
