Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Jan's responses 15 so new thread

Our Lady died in 1998. She was exposed to chemicals sprayed on my brother-in-law's yard. We were not told to keep our dog off. As a matter of fact we did not even know the yard was sprayed until after Lady became ill. She was also one that was on frontline. I questioned my vet throughly about the fact that it had fipronil(sp) any how was assured it was ok to use. We cant take back the time but if I could have I would never have used the product. At the time this occured there was another on the forum, named Tom his dog died from the product and he was fighting Merick for a long time. He is the one that does paintings offered for sale on Meisha's hope. He never posts anymore but gives %'s on his sales to Morris Animal foundation through Meisha's #338 on Joanne's site. So you see this fight has been going on for years and the product is still out there and vets are urging us to use it. Sadly but with hope. Dolores

Delores, hello. I am certain frontline caused my pet's adverse reaction. Other pet owners have had the same reaction. I would like to correspond with Tom to learn more about his Merial action. So this terrible toxic effect that happened to my dear pet does not happen to others, I try to warn pet owners never to use these dangerous flea control products. I actually never wanted to use them myself except when I had a terrible flea problem and my dogs were covered in bites and their skin was very inflammed. I attempted to use many homeopathic flea control products, but to no avail. I noticed on the survey recently compiled by Janet hat many of the pets who are AIHA patients were on flea and heartguard products. I am not sure however when the dosage was given as relates to the onset of their condition. It is only when it happens to you that you begin to ask questions. When no logical answer is given regarding pharmauceutical regulations re: toxic products it is a tough pill to swallow. The industry has a lot of questions to answer on many and varied products.....only problem is they don't apparetnly have to. Jan
