My sweet, perfect Jack passed away on his own this morning. I was just getting ready to leave to go see him and the vet called to tell me he just went to sleep. I am not going to do the "what if's, should have's, etc." because it will not change one thing. He was my perfect companion and I have wonderful pictures of our life together which I will always treasure. Thank you all so much for all the kind words, support, encouragement, advice. Some things aren't right, aren't wrong, they just are. Jack gave me so much more than I'll ever realize. I look around the kitchen and miss seeing those beautiful chocolate brown eyes watching me. I know I will get through this but honestly, I am grieving more for him than I ever did a human. That Rainbow Bridge poem is so bittersweet and it gives me comfort. Thanks again and best wishes and hope for all of you. I sincerely appreciated all the wonderful comments. Don't guess there is a need for me to stay on this site anymore now. God be with Jack and all those beloved pets who are waiting for us at Rainbow Bridge. Mary

Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. I understand the grief and while it takes a long time to work through it the pain you are feeling right now does ease. Feel free to drop in once and a while to let us know how you are doing. It sometimes helps to stay in contact with people who understand what you have been through. Penny

Mary, My thoughts are with you. It is incredibly hard to loose a companion at such a young age. I know that in time your broken heart will heal, nobody can take away the wonderful memories you have of the short time with Jack. On Joannes site Meisha's Hope: http://www.cloudnet.com/~jdickson/newhope.htm there is a link to "Loss & Grieve". If you have time and feel like it, go visit. Everybody deals differently with loss and you have to find your own way. For me it helped talking to everybody that would listen and doing a little fund raising for Meisha's Hope. I still try and educate people, as good as I can about AIHA, over immunizing and using excessive chemicals on our dogs. Please stay on this forum, you don't have to post. Just stay...... maybe there will be somebody one day that can learn from Your experience. With heartfelt sympathy, Brigitte

Dear Mary -- I was so sad to see your post, and it makes me cry just thinking of your sadness. Many of us have been where you are now, so we know how deep your grief is, because you had never heard of this disease, and it struck suddenly and took your dear Jack before you even had a chance. I am glad you have pictures and memories of your wonderful, but short, life with Jack. They will be such a comfort to you. And please take comfort knowing you did all you could -- as you said, thinking about the "ifs, ands, or buts" won't change anything. But sometimes, we do it anyway. Please take care of yourself. And please don't be too quick to leave us. As someone else said, so many of us here know what you've been through, and we can help. I didn't find the forum until after I lost my beagle, Wiley, but these wonderful, caring people on the forum have helped me with my grief. I'll keep you in my prayers.
