It's hard to believe a whole year has passed since my fur-baby Killian crossed over to Rainbow Bridge. Before he got sick, I never knew of this terrible disease. I still miss him terribly and think of him often. He changed my entire life. However, when one door closes another opens. I'm proud to say I've opened up my home and heart to a homeless little Pom named Cutie. She is very loving and has also made an impression on my heart. For those of you that are going through this or has lost a loved baby, my heart goes out to you. This site helped me immensely as the days following Killian's death was unbearable. Thank you to everyone for your support and prayers during that difficult time. My God bless each of you and your beloved pets. Sincerely, Maryann Killian, Taz, and Cutey's Mom Clinton Twsp, MI

Dear Maryann, I do remember your darling Killain. This truly is an awful disease, and certainly changes the lives of those who have a dog with IMHA - whether they be a survivor or not. I am so happy that you've rescued another little Pom - congratulations and may you have many happy years with Cutie. Sam & Millie.

Thank you all so very much. I'm so touched that several of you remember my Killian...it's truely amazing that this site has helped in so many ways. I hope there are others that find comfort here also.

Maryann, I don't think the devastation ever quite leaves you. I agree the site was an incredible rock to turn to in an "unbearable" situation. Great use of the word because that is the closest word to desribe the complete crushing of losing a pup to IMHA. Glad to see you've adopted another lucky dog though...and the year mark for me was big to know I made it through. -Darren
