Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Is this disease becoming more breed specific?

I have read that cockers and doxies are more predisposed to AIHA/AIMA. But just in the last week people posted here, I think 3 std poodles and 3 labradoodles. Just some thoughts and wondering about this.

Laurie,

In the nearly 11 years I have been doing the Meisha's Hope AIHA/IMHA Web site, I have received emails from thousands of owner/caregivers whose dogs have the disease. I have seen just about every breed (including mixed breeds) be diagnosed with AIHA/IMHA. Last week for the first time I heard from an owner/caregiver of a Chinese Crested Hairless which I think is a very small dog. I have also heard from those who have very large dogs and every size and age in between. Recently I have heard from many with small dogs like Shih Tzu's (did I spell it right) and many doxie owners (besides those we see here on the forum). I personlly do not hear from a lot of Standard Poodle owner/caregivers but did hear from one recently. I do see many Cockers and another breed I have recently seen a lot of is Border Collies, many from the UK. What does all this mean, at this point I am not sure except that every breed, every size and every age from a few months to those 10 years plus is being diagnosed with AIHA/IMHA. The disease is not a respector of age, breed, size or geograhical location.
