| Does anyone whose dogs are on Atopica and Prednisone give them the monthly dose of Interceptor? I asked the specialist some time back about giving it and she told me that I should give continue to give it every 30 days. I know some on this post have said to give it, but at 45 day intervals. Today is the scheduled time to give Darcy her dose and I'm a little nervous. She's on 200 mg/day of Atopica and 5 mg/day Prednisone. Any thoughts/comments on Interceptor? Also, I remember our regular vet telling me not to worry about over dosing on the Interceptor, that dogs could eat a whole box and it wouldn't hurt them, but I never believed him. I thought that was a ridiculous statement to make. Of course, at that time Darcy didn't have this disease and wasn't on meds. Karen |

| Hi Karen, I didn't give tiggs his Interceptor after he was diagnosed this July. I'm still not sure what to do next year. In the past, we only gave it from about May-Oct, but after dx, I was just too paranoid. Both my vet and CSU did say that you can do the every 45 day dosing, as studies have apparently shown it is still effective. Plus they suggested giving half of the tab in the am, then the other half in the pm when administering to monitor for any immune response. I still didn't feel comfortable, as tiggs was so ill all summer. That's just us, I'm sure others will have some different ideas. I think next year I will do what was suggested, but this year, I was just too scared. Best to Darcy, hope she is coming around! melissa and tiggs |
