Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in to give a quick update: Indy's HCT has been steady around 33% as we have been weaning down his Pred dosage - the vet is really happy with it so I'm trying not to be too crazy. Anyway, I wanted to share a story that actually made me cry tears of joy this week: Indy and I were sitting in the living room watching TV as usual and he ran over to his toy basket, grabbed a toy out of it, and started running around the living room shaking it in his mouth. Before IMHA, he loved his toys, but since he got sick, he hadn't touched them or even shown any interest. Well, no longer. As I type this, he is still going at it with his toys :) Hope all is well - you are all in my thoughts! Lindsay and Indy

Lindsay...I can remember the day TEssy FINALLY picked up a ball and dropped it at my feet! I was beyond happy and could barely contain myself! That was my (our) sign that she was indeed getting better! I'm so happy to hear Indy is taking an interest in the toys again. YAY Oh, and many dogs will hover in this range for extended periods before the crit starts to rise. We were in the high 20's for several months before Tessy's crit climbed above 30n where AGAIN it stayed for several more months before slowly climbing to her normal level! All the while we were reducing her meds also. Just be carefull with reductions and PLEASE take them slow and follow the numbers. I don't want to scare you but it's necesary to know that sometimes there's still destruction occurring and people reduce drugs too quickly and the dog relapses...usually when the drugs are in the lower ranges (non-immune suppressing doses). Just remember to play it safe and be vigilent. Hugs, thoughts and prayers for you and Indy. Johnny & Tessy

Hi Lindsay & Indy, It's great to see isn't it. Archie never showed any interest in toys as a puppy and with hindsight he was probably poorly long before we realised. Now, he loves them and holds centre court in the evening as he brings balls into the sitting room and throws them and himself around. He has also decided that it is his mission to wreck his comfy beds and at a rate of one a week this is proving expensive but not as much as the vet bills were! Keep an eye on those levels Sue and Archie

Lindsay, I think that the lack of interest in anything when they are sick is one of the hardest things to deal with. It is just one of the glaring facts, staring you in the face everyday, that our beloved pets are really so very sick. To see them play again is just such a relief, I guess. Letting you know that, just maybe, they will be alright. Good luck to Indy's health. Ronda and Buster

Thanks everyone! :) We've been reducing Indy's Prednisone dosage and he is now on 15mg/day and 18mg Azathioprine. Yesterday we had another blood test and Indy's HCT is up to 39.5%! I can definitely tell he is almost back to his old self! :) We're continuing reducing his dosages... continuing blood testing. Indy and Lindsay
