Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - IMHA and Tellington TTouch

Hi everybody,
we just got back from a Tellington TTouch workshop. It is hard to describe what it is, in a short sentence. But there is some clips on youtube and info here http://www.tteam-ttouch.ca/ttouch.htm
Kahlu did really well with it. It is something that I can do for him, besides giving him pills. If you have the opportunity to see a good practitioner, I think it would be worth it. It was also very good and calming for me. I also learned, that I have to keep thinking positive. The practitioner taught me to think with every stroke: Go back to that healthy balance you were in before. That might sound a bit hooky, but it sure felt good for both of us. I liked the whole approach and philosophy and recommend looking into it for sick and healthy dogs. I will do TTouch on Kahlu all weekend, before and during the blood test on Monday and I am sure I will report improvements on Tuesday!

I think that with dogs, as well as people, it's important to practice whole body wellness and unite the mind/body connection. That's really cool that you were able to do that with Kahlu, no doubt it can be a relaxing, healing thing for both of you.

I agree with Brigitte that massage-type therapy is good for dogs. On Friday I started doing massage therapy and acupressure on Darcy and she has responded well to both. She especially enjoys the massage. There are a couple of good books by Cheryl Schwartz that include natural remedies and acupressure techniques and one by Amy Snow called The Well-Connected Dog: A Guide to Canine Acupressure. I was also able to find a website -- www.luckydoghealth.com/dogacupressurechart.htm -- where I was able to print off a chart of acupressure points and a list of corresponding procedures for various ailments. The only thing I'm having trouble with is locating the points that are connected to ribs. That could be because Darcy is a bit overweight. I've avoided doing those points until I can take some classes on acupressure. I'd also like to take a course on massage therapy for dogs. I think that loving touch, accompanied by comforting words and prayer, is a pathway to healing.
