Due to cataracts I have so much trouble reading I have not been here for some time. And it is with tears I read of all the AIHA caases/passings. I am so sorry for each and evey one. My Hunter was lost to this horrible disease on Oct. 16, 2003 at age 4 yrs. 2 months, He was my beautiful golden retriever, neve sick a day in his life until he got that fatal ProHeart6 injection. I had never heard of this disease until his diagnosis and now I hear of it to often. Let us all hope and pray that the work being done at the Morris Animal Foundation will find a better "cure" or better still, a prevention, for his cruel unforgiving disease.

Dear Sandra Your message is much appreciated, especially as you have had a loss also, Hunter is probably hosting one big party up there - these doggies are too young to be taken by something so nasty. I too had not heard of this disease, now I talk about red cells, white cells, reticulocytes, etc etc. A cure or preventive would be fantastic, I agree, and Joanne is doing great work in this area. I hope you are able to sort out those cataracts so you are able to read properly. I miss my Riley. Silka

Dear Sandra, I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your eyes. We grieve with the owners who lose their dogs to this awful disease. I would say most of us have never heard of IMHA before our dogs are struck down with the disease. We have almost no time to try and understand it, and what we need to do to give our babies the best chance of survival. I am encouraged by the stories of survival, my darling Millie is one of these survivors. We hope for better treatments - and even a cure one day. Take care, Samantha & Millie.
