I know that the pups are to receive the cyclo at least one hour before or two hours after a meal. My question is how soon after taking the cyclosporine can they have a little snack or something? Is there a time frame as to when they can partake of food again? Please let me know. Thank you.

Mardi: We always fed Sheba first and then gave her her cyclo about 1 1/2 - 2 hours later. Usually no snacks in between (or at least we tried!). However, since she was on such a high dose (250 mg a day) we had to slip her pills into a little soft food to get her to take them. Usually a tablespoon or two would do it. Unless she was being difficult - spitting out the pill so we had to put it in more food to get her to take it. Got to be something of a game with her some days! Anyway, I hope this helps and good luck! Rita, Mike and Sheba

This does help. Oliver gets his pills at 7pm. He too, is on a high dose, 300mg a day. Today is his first day and so far so good.... I usually give him a lil snack again around 9pm, like a small grain free bone or something. Just want to make sure that this won't interfere with the cyclo. Thank you very much, Rita, Mike and Sheba :)

Ginger had her share of snacks after she had her cyclo too. She had a dog cookie or two, or three everyday about an hour after her cyclo. The treats did not have any impact on the meds in her case. Her treats are the highlight of her day! Keeping our paws crossed for Oliver. Cheryl & Ginger

Mardi, My dog had a problem with nausea and the meds. At our vets recommendation we have been giving our Atopica with food twice a day for over a year now. I know everything else says don't give with food. In our case it is working as his PCV has been in the 40's and we are continually reducing meds once a month after bloodwork. I think I'm the only one on here that gives it with food. I guess every dog is different. Good luck! Chris & Alex

From the Novartis Atopica Insert: http://www.us.atopica.com/pdf/083%20AtopicaInsert_CLIENT.pdf ATOPICA should be given at least one hour before or two hours after a meal. Vomiting and diarrhea were the most common adverse reactions occurring during the study. In most cases, signs spontaneously resolved with continued dosing. In other cases, temporary dose modifications (brief interruption in dosing, divided dosing, or administration with a small amount of food) were employed to resolve signs. my best patrice
