Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Holly's bloodwork from yesterday

I am so very happy to report that Holly's bloodwork from yesterday came back today fantastic!! Her Hematocrit was 54.8 and her Alkaline Phosphatase came down another 400 points to 665. We are now awaiting Dr Dodds next suggestions on reducing meds again for this month. This past month she was every third day on the aziathioprine and still every ohter day on 2mg of prednisone.

What a changed little girl she is, full of life and energy once again. It is so refreshing to see her this way. We actually only got to experience this with her for about 3 months after adopting her and then she got sick. It has been a long battle since March 2007, hard to believe in 2 more months will be 2 years.

To all of those still fighting, there is hope, to all of those who have lost, we shed your tears with you.

Thanks,
Linda

Linda, such great news for you. Glad to hear that Holly is back to her "old self" and enjoying life again. It's so nice when that quality of life comes back for our doggies.

Linda,
Great news! It sounds like you are going to get to see a brand new life for Holly the one she only knew for a few months before you had to start this roller coaster.
Best of luck.

Dear Linda,
What wonderful news about Holly!

When I read your note I thought how amazing this time we are living in right now. Both you and I have had to scrape together a treatment protocol in order to save our dog's lives. There is so much confusion and misinformation in the veterinary world about how to treat these dogs. But yet we were able to find our way through the confusion. I am hoping that one day we will look back on this time and shake our heads in disbelief that it was so hard and marvel at the new treatments of the future.

You have done an amazing job with Holly and you deserve an award of honor for that work.

Linda,

I am so happy for you and Holly. I pray she continues to hold those good numbers and come completely off of all her meds. You've been going through this since 2007, so it's definitely time you received some good news.

Thanks everyone for all your words of support and in sharing with us our good news! You are all like family to me and if wasn't for all of you we would not have made it through this with Holly. I did hear back from Dr Dodds, as always very prompt with all of her emails, she is fantastic! Anyway our next reduction will be YEAH! Prednisone now to twice a week and the aziathioprine to once a week in between the prednisone. Here's praying for another great month!
