Update on Holly - springer spaniel A miracle and answer to prayers. Holly has turned a corner having been in Bristol animal hospital for more than a week. I was so frightened she wouldn't make it. Her PCVs went down to 8.7, but Friday increased to 20 and Sunday 24. She is eating and has had feeding tube removed. also came out of ICU yesterday. We will be picking her up tomorrow all being well. My own vet will take over the care inconsultation with Bristol animal hospital. I'm still rather scared because I know there are side effects like blood clots and feel quite nervous about my own care for her. I don't want to become to paranoid. Thank you for all responses and prayers. Her recovery is definitley an answer to prayers and she has had excellent care in hospital. Can't praise them enough. I will add further updates after she comes home. Janette

This is really good news and I hope she continues to improve. I know it has to be scarey. My Hunter never got to come home from ICU so I didn't have to face the challege of treating him at home. Senidng the best for you and your Holly.

Janette...that is great news. We all like to hear about dogs that are responding to treatment. If your vet is concerned about blood clots you might want to ask if your dog should be on a baby aspirin (80mg instead of the normal 325mg). If the 80mg is too much for Holly's weight consider giving one every other day.

Janette -- that is wonderful news to hear that Holly is responding. So happy to know she is better and is coming home. As Penny notes, the road to recovery is long, but it's possible and Holly and you are fighters. Best wishes. Please keep us posted.
