Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Help with Fleas

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a natural remedy to help get rid of fleas or knows of any safe products to use on dogs with AIHA??
The warm weather has really brought out the fleas here in North Carolina and even in limiting my dog Tipi's outside time, it doesn't completely keep them off of her. But I am NOT willing to use any type of topical treatment on her such as K9 Advantix, ProMeris, etc...
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks.

Hi Layla,
Yup the fleas are out and about now, and i know how you feel. I have been trying different things for Kent, in conjunction with recommendations from others and from the holistic vet. Do try diatomous (sp?) earth spread outside where fleas lurk, and inside i have used borax inbetween floor boards and in cracks, then vacuumed up. Kent gets frequent baths, and i spray a blend of essential oils on him meant to keep mosquitos off of him - i wont say what it is as i am not sure it is ok for your dog - really, get recommendations from a holistic vet. I find a couple fleas on him throughout the week, but he has not had any flea medicine since last november, and he is not infested nor is the house - you have to really stay on top of it but it is possible.
Good luck,
Christine and Kent
