Well, here it is 3 am and I suddenly realize I may have given wylie a second dose of azi tonight. She gets 50mg every other day and she is 50 pounds. she seemed fine, the only thing is just just had to go out for a long pee which is rare should i be concerned, vets dont open until 8 to ask Thanks Laurie

I did the same thing to my dog Ginger a few months ago and she was just fine, she weighs about 75lbs though. I would just keep a close eye on him and call the vets office in the morning just to be on the safe side. One time I even gave the Azathioprine to my non AIHA dog he got in the pill line and I wasn't paying attention to which golden it was and he was fine too. So many pills, I keep them in a pill container with the days of the week on it and even then I mess up once in awhile. Hugs to Wylie! Cheryl & Ginger

Thanks Cheryl, thats a whew, I just found out the reason she woke me up to go to the bathroom was I shut the inside laundry door that had has the dog door to the outside because there was a mouse in it. My cat loves to bring in his play toys! I know what you mean about getting dogs things mixed up, my other dog has his own set of several supplements and I realized I had just put it all in Wylies food and had to dump it out. Laurie

Hi Laurie, We accidentally skipped a whole night of meds about a month ago, Pred, Aza, Pepcid, the whole lot. I felt terrible, I'd never made a mistake with his meds, but he was fine, and we're all human! melissa and tiggs

Darn, now I think I did the same thing. I am supposed to give Aiyana a half of an azathioprine in the evening and 1 1/2 prednisone... I think I gave her a whole azathioprine. Add one new drug and I become a bumbling idiot. She's a big girl, so she should be ok right? She is 85 lbs, and is on 50 mg aza in the am, and 25 in the pm. So far she is ok, she is laying in front of my oven waiting for the pizzas to get done LOL. I bought a pill organizer for her this afternoon, but had not filled it yet. stupid stupid me. Julie

Hi Julie, I think you should be fine, Wylie is 50 pounds and on 50mg Azi, but just dosed down and on 20 mg pred daily, Mind boggling on how the vets prescribe these doses. Now this is just my opinion, from everything I have gleaned but I look at Aiyana and at 30 mg a day for pred for 85 pounds seems low, but am sure its because of her age and yet I think the azi dose my Wylie is on is too high, and she is 11+ old we dont know her age. Hugs to Aiyana Laurie

I don't know if this helps, but Toby is 80 lbs. My vet told me to give him 100 mg. in the evening, and at first it was 200 mg. He's taking 20 mg. of pred. in the evening also. Karen H.

Thank you both, oops sorry, Aiyana is on 30 mg. prednisone 2 x daily, and the aza. is 50 mg pills. 1 in the am 1/2 pm, so 75 mg. a day. blessings, Julie

Because I usually measured out the dosages in the kitchen I kept a calender on the fridge door where I entered the dosages and time on the calender before I gave them. With your head spinning most of the time throughout this it is easy to have brain fade.
