| Well, first off I want to say that Sadie is doing remarkably well now. She seems to be getting better with each day. HOWEVER, I'm now back to dealing with something VERY serious with Tessy. I noticed the other day that her mandibular (sp?) lymph nodes were swelled. The next day they were even bigger. It seems to be spreading fairly fast! :( Of course the first thought to mind was lymphoma! I can't afford to have a biopsy ($450) so I have her hopped up on antibiotics in hopes that it may be something infectious. I'm totally lost now with this new problem...kinda like someone just smacked me in the head with a 2X4! We could really use some healing and good luck vibes if you can spare them. The poor little girl. To have faught and beat the terrible AIHA and to now have to deal with this is just... seems like everything is hitting us at the same time! :( Thanks Johnny Tessy & Sadie |

| Alright, so the swelling hasn't gone down any since being on the antibiotics since Thursday. Tessy is scheduled in for tomorrow morning to have a biopsy done. I'm a little nervous cause this is a new place and they'll have to put her under to do it! Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Johnny Tessy & Sadie |

| Johnny, we had something similar happening to Ripley about a year ago. He got very lethargic, meanwhile I got frantic! His gums are difficult to check, they are black, so we took him to the vet. Like Tessy, his mandibular lymph nodes were swollen. He was put on antibiotics but was worse the next day. They had to keep him and put him on an IV. His whole body got toxic, it was so weird. After being on the IV and antibiotics for 24 hrs. he slowly got better. We suspect, that he swallowed a sliver that got lodged and infected somewhere. The x-ray did not show anything though. For the anesthesia, can you ask if they can giver her one that can be "reversed" after the procedure. This was done to one of my dogs to remove an insured nail. It was amazing, 10 minutes after the second shot, the dog was standing up. I don't know however, if this anesthesia is easier on the body or not. Lets hope it is nothing serious and Tessy is better soon. How is she acting? Best wishes, Brigitte & the poodle boys |

| Hey there Johnny, I, of course, have followed your Sweet Tessy's fight against the beast we all unfortunately know as AIHA. And more recently, your Sweet Sadie. Now this? I am crushed that so much has been thrown at you and your girls. Please know you all remain in my thoughts and prayers. One thing is certain.....your girls have a terrific dad! Good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way.....always! Teresa |

| Well, I slept about an hour last night! Just got back from dropping Tessy off for her biopsy. Now to play the waiting game. |

| Johnny, when will you get the biopsy results? Paryers from me, Molly, and Jack. Jack now has "special" prayers 'cause' he's at Rainbow Bridge. I think he might have a straight line.........I like to think he's well connected, LOL. Thinking of you and your Gals. M & M |

| I'm hoping to get the results back today...if not tomorrow! Everyone keep the fingers (& paws) crossed. Tessy could really use some strong thoughts prayers or vibes right about now! I'm having bad feelings about Sadie today also. She's getting weaker and doesn't want to eat now! :( Yeah, it never ends right! If you got them she could also use some thoughts prayers or vibes. Waiting for the vet to open to take her in. I'll keep you all posted on both my ladies. Thanks Johnny Tessy & Sadie |

| Johnny, I am so sorry to hear about both Tessy and Sarah. You must be frantic with worry. I am sending you a very long hug today. We went through a somewhat similar thing with Chance in the fall of 2007 after he recovered from non-regenerative anemia. I actually went to the effort to have a lymph node in his back leg removed for biopsy. The lab results were difficult to interpret, but I was able to eventually understand that the description of the cells really meant that he was just suffering his fall allergies (which he had all of his life). Once the season changed to winter, he was fine. But he always had very swollen lymph nodes in the spring and fall all of his life. Since it is nearly fall right now and many of the fall plants that irritate allergies are in full bloom after a warm, wet summer, I am hoping this is the same for Tessy. It would make sense that her immune system remains at high alert and is just more sensitive to this. In either case, if you have any questions about the language on the biopsy report, let me know, I can try to help. Is Sarah on doxy at all? This will definitely decrease appetite. You said just a few days ago she was getting better. Surely this can't be too serious? my best patrice |

| Just a quick update here. I didn't get Tessy's biopsy results back today...hopefully tomorrow. Sadie was emmitted to the hospital today. I just got back...poor darling. She was having problems standing and even opening her eyes. She puked blood a couple times (ulcer) and pooped fresh blood also today! Yeah...when it rains it pours I guess. Blood tests showed that her crit was 24%...which *would* be where it was last test BUT she was dehydrated so likely it is probably around 15% +/- ...if I had to guess. Her BUN in high (61) but her creat is in normal range. Her lipase was high (5468)as well as her amylase (1903). Didn't I just deal with something like this??? DeJa Vu all over again! Her glucose was also on the low side! Liver enzymes all above normal but not sky high. Blood present in urine sample! The only other number that had me really worried was her platelets...53!!! So yeah...that's where were at right now. Kinda glad we didn't get the biopsy results back cause I don't think I could handle any more bad news! Going in to visit in the morning so I'll know more then. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Johnny Tessy & Sadie |

| How awful. I have seen a lot of complaints about vets lately and I must say it looks like I am very fortunate to have the vets that I have. As soon as they had results I was called and things explained. Why can it not be discussed on the phone? I rather have news good or bad over the phone than wait an other night. I guess they can't bill you if you don't come in? A bit more compassion is in order with some of these vets..... Lets hope for the best, thinking of you, Brigitte & the poodle boys |

| Johnny, I am just shocked that they won't even give you a heads up over the phone. They must have gotten some kind of hint throughout Tessy's ordeal that you do understand what is going on with your dog and if not you will research it thoroughly enough to make intelligent decisions. Are these the same Vets? I am sorry you will have a sleepless night and hope you take some comfort in knowing a lot of people will be praying and sending healing vibes for your sweet girl. | Johnny, I am devastated to read Tessy's diagnosis. A flood of emotions came over me reading your latest post. I know exactly how terrifying the word cancer is. It is all I can do to hold back the tears. I am so sorry you are now faced with a grim prognosis. A wise person told me, "remember she has no idea how sick she is, or what prognosis the vets have given her". Those words brought me unbelievable strength and calmness. Tessy seems to be a real fighter. There are those dogs that fight like no other, and defy the odds they are given. Toqua wasn't expected to make it out of surgery, let alone the 3.5 months she thrived afterward. She still has time with you. You will decide what you want to / do not want to do for her, and she will thank you for whatever decision you make. You have her best interests at heart. She knows how much you love her, and she will ultimately let you know when enough is enough. Treat every day like the blessing it is - Tessy is here and doing well today. There is no time like now. Do everything with her that you may have been putting off. Buy her all those ice cream cones. I hear dogs LOVE blizzards! :) Take tonnes of pictures. No regrets. And live in the moment, with Tessy. Johnny, I wish things had turned out differently for you and Tessy. It just doesn't seem fair. Wishing you both many more happy memories together. And let's hope she keeps fighting and proves the vets wrong. Thinking of you both, sending our thoughts and prayers, Jessi |

| Dear Johnny, I am so very sorry to hear of this setback for Tessy. I know you will fight as hard as you can, and Tessy's a proven fighter.... neither of you will give up, despite what the vet has said. | I'm a long time lurker, and have lost 2 dogs/litter mates to both IMHA and lymphoma in the past several years so my heart goes out to you. There are some dogs who do very well with chemo and go on to have long remissions. Our boy had "t" cell multi centric (the more aggressive form), and was also diabetic, with treatments he lived another 15 months of quality (which in human years would equal another decade) and handled the chemo w/no problem. I'd speak with an internist or oncologist for a 2nd opinion. There is another forum and is only for those with furbabies who have lymphoma. You must sign up to read but it is a wealth of information and support (as is this one with IMHA). http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/LymphomaHeartDogs/ |

I hate having to drug her up again (she's also on pred daily again (22.5mg)) but I guess it's necesary now! I do have a little bad news....her crit dropped some after the first week and is now at 33%!!! Can anybody say "nerves are shot" LOL. To look at her you'd never think there was anything wrong with her! She acts totally normal and is happy and wants to play ball ALWAYS!!! Her appetite is still there and she'd eat just about anything if given the opportunity! The drop in crit has me really worried though. Keep the thoughts and prayers coming if you can spare them. I think the power of the good vibes and prayers are really helping her (& me)!!! Thank you all again for the thoughts and concerns. | Hello all. I've been getting lots of messages asking for updates AND the pics I promised so I figured I might as well kill two birds with one stone (I actually wouldn't kill a bird..LOL). Tessy's doing really REALLY well as of late (knock on wood). She just went today for another treatment and so far has had absolutely no problems or adverse effects from the chemo to date. She's a real trooper I must say. Almost 2 years ago she got the AIHA and had finally beat it only to get the lymphoma! Now I'm fairly certain she's gone into remission for this!!! (again...knock on wood) She's on a load of supplements for this and so far so good. It seems to be working! She's got so much energy lately and her zest for life is more than it's EVER been! She just loves to go on her walks now and if she can play ball she will...even in her sleep I'd guess! To look at her you'd never know anything was wrong! She truly is special and unique!!! Anywho, that's the scoop for her....here's some pics that I promised. I hope you enjoy...they are VERY recent. A hike we just went on and she sports her Meisha's bandana proudly each time!!! hehe (Thanks Joanne) http://s978.photobucket.com/albums/ae267/bluemajestic/Tessys%20TV%20Channel/?action=view¤t=b2428017.pbw Thanks for looking.
