| Harry (Standard Poodle - 7-1/2 years) was euthanized this morning. His organs were just shutting down and it was time to let him go. Nothing that we did seemed to result in any improvement for Harry, even temporarily. His vet did everything he could to prevent this outcome, but I guess there is a reason the mortality rate is so high for this disease, especially a sudden onset, as in Harry's case. This forum has been a wonderful source of information that gave us assurance that the protocols our vet was using were similar, if not identical, to the regimen followed by those of you who have seen recovery/improvement in your dogs from this terrible disease. Thanks to all of you for your information and encouragement through this last month. We wish all of you success in your dogs' treatments and comfort to those who lose your friends in the struggle to beat this disease. | Paul, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time of loosing Harry. That is what makes this disease so awful, some just don't have the fight in them to continue and others will fight so hard. Please know that Harry knows you did everything in your power to help him and hang on to all the good times you had with him. Linda |

Paul, so painful to hear about your wonderful Harry. There are no reasons it seems, why the outcomes are so different, but through it all we know all who have been through this terrible ordeal have fought valiantly, both the humans and their furbuddies. For Harry the time for freedom from all the treatments has come and he is indeed frolicking over the Rainbow Bridge with my sweet Brandy and all the others gone before and since. Take comfort here when you can and know how much love and prayer come from everyone here. WE feel your pain and wish for you some small measure of peace in your heart and sweet memories of Harry. sharon

Paul, Just a week ago you commented that you thought that Harry was having symptoms similar to Sunny. Now they are both gone. I am so sorry and I hope that Sunny and Harry are frolicking together now in a place where there is no pain and no illness. Leslie

Paul, There are two reasons to belong to this band of furry and non-furry friends: to share knowledge while you battle and to share wisdom and support at the battle's end. I once long ago spent time with a Standard Poodle and his person and was so impressed by the intelligence of the dog. I guess Harry had enough of the breed's intelligence to know when he was ready for the battle to come to its end...and to know that you had been given the gift of a community who would be with you as he crossed the bridge. With heartfelt empathy for your loss, Cheryl (and always Barkley)

Paul, I'm so sorry about Harry. I know you must be going through a lot of pain and really missing him. My prayer is that God will comfort you and give you peace in knowing that, even though it was difficult, you made the humane decision. You did what was right for Harry right up to the end and gave him love (as I'm sure he did you)in all the time you shared together. God Bless, Karen
