Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Just wanted to wish everyone and their furry loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving. I know we will be giving thanks this year to have Holly still in our life.

This Thanksgiving, I am most thankful for:

1. Shadow (Scamp, Skip and Banjo) still being in my life;

2. Drs. Beckstead, Lupo and their consulting vets who have kept Shadow (Scamp, Skip and Banjo) in my life;

3. the dogs' Aunt Jacque who, when Shadow's doctors wouldn't or couldn't tell me what they suspected was so suddenly "wrong" with Shad, did the 'net research to suggest AIHA (Shad's drs. already knew that's what was "wrong" with her - they just didn't tell me and, suspecting that I wouldn't know what the heck "AIHA" was (as none of us did, because we'd never heard of it before our dogs were diagnosed: it's not like AIHA is parvo, distemper, lepistroporis or rabies), didn't tell me, or even suggest to me;

4. all the good people on this forum who share their and their fur kids' experiences/ride with AIHA);

5. DMR (whoever the heck you are)for sponsoring this forum for those of us who are struggling with the possible loss of our kids; are trying to prevent that; and are trying to prevent, by sharing, anyone else from having to learn the language, and possible loss, of AIHA;

6. Our friends in the U.K. who started this forum;

7. Joanne and Meisha, for giving us, and our four-legged kids, hope; and

8. all the four-legged kids who are struggling through the horrors of this disease, and its treament, because you know that we can't seem to bear life without you being in our lives.

God bless all the pups who are struggling, have struggled with; and who have succumbed to this disease.

When I think my days are the worst, I look at 20-pound (before the onset of AIHA, now 18.5-pound, Shadow, although she eats like a horse and her appetite is never, ever sated; this from a "terrible terrier" who always eschewed food in favor of "play? play! who's gonna chase me? Catch me if you can!).

So, I'm thankful for:

9. Shadow's (and her trying to teach me) uconditional love; and

10. The unconditional love that all our pups have shown us, even when/while we are "tormenting" them with pred, imuran, cyclo, etc/

Thanks be to God for dogs!
