| Six weeks - to the day - after Shadow was diagnosed, she has GREAT news to report. Her pcv today was 31.9 (closing in on normal!) - and WAY higher than it was 10 days ago, when she "scored" a 24.9, two weeks after her third (and last? NEVER say "never again") transfusion. And, her WBC is down from an all-time high of 48,000 to 19,000 (Shad's local Dr. explained that, with AIHA, some dogs experience extremely low WBCs; some (like Shad) experience extremely high WBC's - often leading to a misdiagnosis of leukemia). I am so grateful for this forum. Without it, I would have given up six weeks ago. With this forum, Meisha, Joanne, and everyone else afflicted/associated with this dreadful disease have given me, and each other, HOPE! And, hope is the greatest gift of all. (Thank you, Meisha!) Thank you, everyone (and, especially Kat's dear Allie and Meisha, for giving our furkids and us hope to Kat [Kate] and Allie for giving Shadow Allie's leftover carafate). Together, we all, and Morris Animal Fund #338 WILL make a difference! Peace to all. I think I'm going to have my first "good night's" sleep in six weeks, knowing that Shadow may/is probably(?) on the road to recovery? Thank you ALL who have made Shadow's progress possible! | Sandy, It is so hard sometimes while dealing with this disease to see the positives and regain hope. If it wasn't for all the support and information found on this board I am sure a lot of us would have given up the fight before we ever got started. I am glad to hear that Shadow's is turning it around. Penny |

| Thanks for your good thoughts towards Shadow, Penny and Al. I KNOW, like Penny, that if it hadn't been for this board, I would have given up on Shadow (and this disease that has transformed her) so long ago. Thanks to ALL for the good wishes, and to Meisha (and all the other four-leggeds and their people who have walked this path) for giving us hope. Sandy & Shadow |

| Good news for Shadow! Daisy is hanging at 30 (diagnosed 7/23/07) She is looking better and I am sleeping better. Hopefully both our blood tests will improve on the next round. |

| Sandy, What great news on Shadow!!!She is well on her way to be within normal limits. I feel for ya because I know all too well about being sleep deprived. To be honest I know I was real close to having a nervous breakdown in the beginning. I didnt eat, sleep, lost my job, etc. Just know that all the sleepless nights and all the stress is sooooo worth it when you get to see the old Shadow again and from the sounds of it its already starting to happen. That is awesome. The smallest things with make you cry with joy, such as them jumping on the couch or picking up their favorite toy. My happy moment was when Jacob did what I call the "happy dance" where he rolls around on the floor after eating his food. Keep up the good work. Hugs to you for being such a great mama to Shadow and hi five to her for begin such a tough girl and kicking this disease in the rearend!!! Teresa and Jacob |
