Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - GSD puppy doing great
| It has been three weeks since my GSD puppy crashed on Christmas Eve day, and it has been uphill ever since. Her counts yesterday were an HCT of 38.7%, WBC is down to 15,000% (slightly high)from 48,000, her Retic count is at .5%. Everything is improving daily, she never spent a day in the hospital,( I do work for my vet part time, which helps). Other than not eating on the Sunday night before she was seen on Christmas eve day, and an initial temp of 104.6, HCT of 14%, blood like water, she has had no other symptoms. NO vomiting, no diarraha at any time. We still don't know if it was vaccine caused or possibly tick or other outside cause, probably never will. If everything continues to rise and stay normal, we will start cutting back her pred next Monday. She is still taking Famotidine for her stomach and Doxycillian for an antibiotic, but nothing else.Luckily she has gained no weight, which is good because she is a growing puppy, except for the first week, she is playing and causing trouble like before this all started. I have been glad for this site, reading successes and sadness and thank everyone for their kind words. |
