Ginger still has an ulcer on her tongue and it does not seem to want to go away. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen to their dog as a result of the pedisone. If it did not improve by the next time she goes in for her blood work her vet will look at some cells under the microscope. She is still on 10 mg of predisone EOD. I am hoping it is from the predisone as I have read it can cause stomach ulcers but I could not find much about it causing month ulcers. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks again for all your help.

Cheryl, TC has a large white spot on the left side his tongue, what does gingers look like? I thought maybe he bit his tongue, but I did read another post that said their dog had tongue ulcers. I am taking TC Tuesday and will ask my vet. Does not seem to impede his eating..

Hi Wendy, Ginger's ulcer looks much like one a person would get it is a white circular spot on the left side of her tongue right between her top and bottom teeth, it is also red around the white spot. It does not seem to be causing her any pain and she eats just fine. I searched and searched on the internet and could not find anything relating pedisone to mouth ulcers only stomach ulcers. Let me know what you vet says as she does not go back for another week.

Cheryl, Are you using cyclosporine (atopica)? A known side effect is the growth of papillomas in the mouth. Check out these two websites. I am no expert on these growths so best to pass this idea past your vet. Growths can also be tumors so best to check on next vet visit. Patrice http://www.us.atopica.com/treating/en/faqs/faq.shtml#effects "Based on results from several studies, ATOPICA was generally well tolerated in dogs. As with all drugs, side effects may occur. In a field study, the most common side effects were gastrointestinal signs. Gingival hyperplasia and papillomas may also occur during the initial dosing phase." http://www.dentalvet.com/Encyclopedia/P00352_SC01109.htm See picture of papillomas here.

Hi Patrice No, we are not using Atopica. The spot on Ginger's tongue does not look like the papilloma's in the photo. I hope and pray it is not a tumor.

Hi Cheryl, Good news, the vet said TC just bit his tongue and it just needs to heal. No ulcers....his was just a large white spot though, no bumps or redness. Hope this helps....she did say I could try giving him mouthwash but he would most likely spit it out.
