| If anyone is interested in seeing Ginger, here is a link to her dogster page. http://www.dogster.com/dogs/255145 She continues to do well and almost seems better than she has ever been. It has now been three months since she has been sick and about two months since she was actually diagnosed. I am not sure if there is a chronic AIHA but she has had a low red blood count at least 5 different times during the last 2 years, never below 24 but I was told she had bad UTI's and lyme disease she also had a dark colored urine. Her treatment was always Doxacillin and her systems did improve but would return again a few months until her last bout in Aug. when the treatment above did not work. Her gums were always on the pale side and she was not real energetic. But now after being treated for the AHIA for the last two months she is beginning to seem like a new dog, even with the arthritis in her hips, her gums are the reddest I have seen them in the 2.5 years I have had her. Has anyone ever heard of chronic AIHA? She may have to say on a maintenance drug, just to avoid this happening again. |

| Cheryl, Indeed there is such a thing as chronic AIHA. You can read about it on this page http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/60205.htm from the Merck Veterinary Manual |
