Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Fort Dodge meds

Question:
Who ELSE makes vaccinations?
My *old* vet (who dumped me as a client after I lost Stormie..looking back I think they knew they dropped the ball, and they did) NEVER used Fort Dodge meds and didn't like/trust them.
The vet I go to now does use Fort Dodge. I want nothing to do with these meds and wonder if I could ask for them to order from another supplier when the rabies comes due for Tillie?
I don't do annual vaccinations even though this vet practice continues to do that..I refuse. Tillie is almost 9 years old and she has a neurotic Mom..always pinching her gums...I'm very fussy...since I just lost my husband she is my one and only now. I do not know what she thinks about him being gone...once in awhile she really listens to me when I talk about *daddy*.
Thanks for info.

Dr. Dodds suggested to me to use the Merial produced vaccine. It is not likely a vet would order a single dose in because it would be cost prohibitive. You might just start calling vets to see what brand they carry? Good luck.

Most vets use Fort Dodge or some lower priced vaccine

I have Rottweilers and ONLY use Progard (or Continuum it is the same thing just different label) made by Intervet. Although for Rabies I am often stuck with what the vet has

My Juliet had been vaccinated with Fort Dodge Rabies vaccine on 9/21/10...60 days later, she is in tough shape. Knowing what I know now, I would insist on another vaccine manufacturer.

Is there any other information on this company you can point me too?

Two of Juliet's siblings are owned by friends of our son. They are worried about the genetic pre-disposition...and I don't want them to take the chance of getting the same thing caused by this suspect med.

Thanks.

Pat,
I just googled Ft Dodge vaccines and a number of things came up. I didn't find anything really current as far as adverse reactions or recalls. I know there is someone on this board that filed a complaint with them (Ren's Mom?) Didn't get far because drug companies pretty much run the country in my opinion. I think they just look at it like the military in war time and call it expendable losses. It is just really different when it is your animal and furkid not just a statistic.

Thanks Penny. If anyone learns anything about this, I would love to hear.
