Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - ? for Darcys mom, Karen in NC

HI Karen, I have been reading your posts about using Standard Process. This is about my other dog, Jake my 12 year old lab, his ALK came back at 1600. He had a full cbc in January and everything was okay except his ALK which was 800, my vet wanted to wait and see if it rose now suspects cushings and we will probably do the test for it.

I noticed SP has an an adrenal supplement. Are you are working with a SP vet/nutritionist? If he does test positive I want to ask about this and who yo talk to

Thanks

Laurie-
Karen also helped me link up with them...
The guy you would want to reach out to is Dr. Tom Cameron..
He is who me and Karen both use and is real good at getting back to you with detailed information

Hi Laurie,

Standard Process has wonderful products for both humans and dogs. Dr. Cameron, like Josh said, responds quickly by email and always gives details on what each product does that he recommends. Just go to the Standard Process website and you will find all of the contact info there.

Darcy is responding well to all the SP she takes and the only other meds she is on is low dose Prednisone and Soloxine. Plus, I've had the vet put her on an antibiotic. Those things, along with massage therapy, acuppressure, monthly B12 injections, and, most importantly, prayer have really turned her around. She's acting like she feels so much better, even though her gums and tongue are pale. My best wishes for Jake. Please let us know how the Standard Process works for him.

wow, Karen and Josh, thanks for the quick response and information about Dr Cameron and SP, I will let you know the outcome

Karen, I am so glad to hear Darcy is doing well. I am so mad I subscribe to the whole dog journal and have been unable to access my newsletter and no repsonse from them In this months issue there is an accupressure article I believe on how to do it. I am about ready to pay the $10 to get the article.

Wylie also had her bloodwork done, her HCT was at 45 yea! we are still concerned about her ALT, it rose a little bit, to 580 and she is 50# and on 2.5 mg every other day and will be stopping in 10 days.

My vet said he has recently heard that probiotics are good at healing the liver so we added that to her milk thistle.

Laurie,

Go to the Lucky Dog Health website - www.luckydoghealth.com/dogacupressurechart.htm - and you will find details on how to do massage therapy as well as acupressure. The only thing I'm having a problem with is counting the ribs, so, for right now, I'm not doing those points until I can get more instruction. Our holistic vet does acupuncture and acupressure, so I'll probably get her to show me how to do those when she comes out next month to give Darcy her B12 shot. I would encourage you to do the massage, which promotes a feeling of wellness and creates energy and blood flow.
