| Courtney, Thanks for the encouragement. I'm anxious about the bone marrow test tomorrow. Darcy's still not her perky old self even after yesterday's transfusion. It seems it took her a couple of days after the first transfusion before she started barking and bouncing around. She is eating and drinking water. Initially, before the specialist started Darcy on the pred. and aza., she was given Baytil for a UTI and Doxycycline (100mg. for 14 days) for possible tick/flea/parasite infection. Now I'm reading that it should be given for 21 days, not 14 days). I can't recall that she's had any ticks for the last year, but I do remember getting a flea off her this summer. Does the Doxycycline take care of ticks/fleas/parasites? The internist didn't think it was necessary to give the doxyc., but said she'd prescribe it if that's what I wanted to do. I'm also looking into getting a prescription for thyroxine because it is supposed to stimulate bone marrow production of RBCs. Dr. Dodds recommended it, even before getting a thyroid panel. Hope little Lola is still in the pink. Karen |

| Lola is hanging at 21% 1 week post transfusion. I know it's hard, but I would be careful about trying too many experimental meds at once. If you jump into everything you may not know what the catalyst was for the change. personally, I would wait on the panel results before giving more meds, but it is a personal decision. The doxy is for blood parasite diseases, but not fleas. Best of luck today :) |
