Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - flea ticks help!

Please help with a recomendation as to what I can put on my cat to prevent fleas and ticks. I won't use the things recomended by the vets. We are taking a trip to the northern part of Wisconsin and am told the misquitos are something fierce. She is mainly an indoor cat but these things get into the house too.
