Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Flea Medications
| Hi Folks, I was wondering what types of flea medications are safe to use in an IMHA dog. We seem to be having a particularly bad flea season and I would like to give Henri something, as the fleas like him alot more than his sister. What are you using in your IMHA dogs? PS Henri has been off all meds for 10 weeks and has been doing very well. His hematocrits have been ranging between 46-49%. Our little miracle continues! Keep praying for him. Thanks so much! | Ella, I was having the same problem. I am so terrified to give anything to Buster. The vet said to try Confortis, this is the chewable tablet, but when I read up on it one of the side effects could be liver trouble. Buster already has some strain on his liver from all of the drugs he is taking so I opted for just a flea bath. I tried to find the kind with the least amount of chemicals. If you already have some flea's, you could put Henri outside or in another room and spray your room/house. I wouldn't let him back in the treated room until everything is dry. I haven't found any fleas on Buster in a couple of weeks so good luck, I hope it works for you!!!! Ronda |

| I use Sentry Natural Defense. Its made with Essential Oils and not chemicals. It has worked for my pup Butters. I ordered it from Amazon. I also got the Sentry Natural Defense spray to use as back up between applications of the other. The application of the defense is just like advantage. Its in a tube and you apply it from the shoulder blades down to the tail. Smells kinda nice, if you like essential oils. Smell goes away within a few hours. No fleas on butters and counting. Good luck. By the way I have been using this product for almost 4 months. |
