| One of the books recommended for grief/loss is outstanding. When I read the note on Maggie's thread I had to write this. It is "Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates" by Gary Kurz. To quote him: "In Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates, indisputable and convincing evidence is offered to prove that God has indeed made eternal provisions for all of His Creatures." The book is based on Bible scripture and is very reader friendly. It is not the first book I read after my Brandy went HOME, but rather one of several and I found it most reassuring and comforting. I have added this book to Brandy's memory shelf on my bookshelf, right next to her very favorite "spot". I hope all of you whose beloved furbabies are with my Brandy will have the chance to read it and know they are all smiling at us and waiting with wagging tails. God Bless sharon |

| Sharon -- thanks for the recommendation. I have heard of that one, but have never read it. I read two that I thought were helpful -- The Loss of a Pet by Dr. Wallace Sife, who also is the founder of the Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement, and Goodbye, Friend by Gary Kowalski. The former is good at helping to understand the grieving process and also provides insights on the different kind of grief that comes depending on the circumstances of the loss. Mr. Kowalski's book aims to help the grieving pet owner move to a more positive view of celebrating a pet's life and impact on everyone's lives. Both try to help the reader accept that which is hard to do -- that death is a natural part of life that we must face up to. Please take care. |
