Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Ebby has gone to the bridge

Lesley has been having trouble posting so she emailed me and asked me to post this for her.

Joanne

Ebby passed on yesterday evening. We had gone to the vet to visit her. She was lying quite peacefully in an incubator (the sort used for premature babies). They had her in an incubator so she could get oxygen. We were able to open little port holes and touch her and talk to her. She was sedated, but we could tell from her eyes that she knew we were there and recognized us, at least for a few moments. We stayed with her for about an hour, just petting her and telling her that we loved her. We discussed taking her home, but they told us the strain of moving her, plus not having oxygen, would probably be to much for her. We could see that she was very ill--too ill to appreciate being at home instead of at the clinic. She had a lot of fluid in her lungs, and the oxygen they were giving her made it easier for her to breath.

So we left her, planning to come back the next morning, and hoping to keep her going as long as she was not suffering. She wasn't at all distressed when we left, but was lying peacefully in the incubator. Really she was too ill to know if we were there or not. A few minutes after we got home the vet phoned and told us that Ebby had passed away.

So now she is with our other Chi, Daisy, at the Rainbow Bridge. Daisy is very brave, spunky little Chihuahua so she will look after Ebby at the Bridge. And I know many of you reading this also have fur kids at the Bridge too--maybe Ebby will meet them too. They will all be young and healthy again and playing in the sun (or shade, or snow, maybe, if that's what they like).

Here are some links to pics of Ebby and her family. Hope these work.

Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of you beloved Ebby. It sounds like she waited for you to have that one last visit with her and then she knew it was okay for her to go and met up with Daisy.

Lesley and family,
It is obvious by the pictures how much Ebby was loved.
I am glad you were able to visit with her last night and see her resting peacefully. I am sure she got a very energetic welcome at the bridge and will play there until you meet again.
