Canine Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA & IMHA) - Dunes - update 3/14/08
| The doctor wanted us to up the pred from 10 to 8o mg a day-which I did for 2 days and then reduced it to 40 on my own (I did tell the vet) He also increase the Imuran to 1 and 1/2 tablet every other day. Dunes has done well-we are now down to 20 mg pred every day-her pcv was 39. If this becomes stable or gets better, we are looking at reducing the Atopica (which is so expensive) I keep praying!!!1 |

| Joe, How wonderful to hear from you with such encouraging news! I remember very well how relieved we were to get the prednisone down to 20mg. And the atopica too, from 225mg a day down to nothing. It took us so long to decrease both. I would say you are at the top of the mountain and the ride down is going to be like: "wheeeeeeeeee!" My very best to you and Dunes, Patrice |

| Joe, Wonderful news for Dunes and you! I know what you mean about the Atopica, need to take out bank loans just to cover the cost. We did switch Holly back at the end of last summer over to Imuran and so much easier on the pocketbook. Maybe you could do that for Dunes. Just a thought. Like Patrice said maybe at the top of the mountain now! GO DUNES! Linda |
