Dunes can not be weaned from her meds. She is on 5 ml Prednisone, 20 mg pepcid 2X, per day. 1.2 low dose aspirin 2x per day 50 mg of Atopican, 1 x per day. She also remains on some Immurran-30 mg every other day (i'm not sure of the dosage-it's 1 1/2 pills every other day. Dunes count remains in the 40s, she runs around gets into things, eats everything in site. She does not know that she is sick. She recently ate a year old gingerbread house and got very sick-presume it was problem with the pancreas. The vet said that Dunes doe not know that she is sick-and it has been three years. I guess I worry less about a relapse becasue she is not off medicine. I do worry about the side effects but love her and she is much closer to being as she was then when I thought she would go. She is a true blessing to me and cost as much as one of my cars-but she is a miracle.

Glad Dunes is doing great! Pups like to get into everything. I remember Oliver used to have a thing for toilet paper and tissue of any kind! We would find him in the hallway with the end of the toilet paper in his mouth, chewing away at the roll. I am glad Dunes has a more gourmet, epicurian palate!!!! JK. Take care and keep up the wonderful work of taking care of Dunes and keeping him healthy.

thank you for sharing Dunes story, I think you're right...most of the dogs really don't know they are sick...they are such resilient, forgiving creatures.. I bet that gingerbread house was pretty delicious while it lasted and until it made her feel so crummy. melissa and tiggs

Joe, So glad that Dunes is running around and playing and seems to be happy. Like you said they don't realize they are sick. Our Holly eats everything in site also, every crumb on he floor she finds it. I remember when we first got her she ate almost an entire leather moccasin, beads and all, gave her a vaseline sandwich to help her pass it per our vet and it worked! Just curious, why is it that she cannot be weaned off of the meds especially after 3 years and with her count in the 40's? Holly was on her meds for 2 1/2 years and has been med free for the last 4 months and so far so good. Linda
